Is one way car rental in Azerbaijan normal?
No, one way rental is not normal here. Saying so plainly is fair.
Almost every company here is based in Baku and only in Baku.
No branch offices exist in Ganja or Sheki to leave the car at.
So a one way trip means a driver travels out and brings the car home.
What does it actually cost?
The fee reflects the return drive, not the rental itself.

The airport is the most common one way request, and it is simple.
Why not just leave the car there?
Because it stops earning, and Azerbaijani cover does not insure it unattended.
An abandoned car in a regional town is our problem for days.
The fee covers that drive, and it is not a penalty.
Tell us at booking and the number is agreed in advance.
Can you drop the car in another country?
No, you cannot drop the car in another country. Rental cars cannot leave Azerbaijan under current rules.
The rule covers Georgia, Turkey, Iran and Russia, without exception.

What do most people do instead?
Most people plan a loop and come back to Baku. A loop is cheaper and simpler.
Our cars have no mileage limit, so the return leg costs only fuel.
Our week long route is built that way on purpose.
A second option is a car with a driver for the long legs.
What if your flight leaves early?
An early flight is handled by the Baku airport drop. The handover there is easy.
We meet you in the car park, check the car and take the keys.
The drop works at any hour, because the phone answers at night.

How do you arrange it?
Arrange a one way drop by naming the point and date when you first write.
- Tell us the drop point and the date when you first write.
- We quote the fee, if there is one, before you pay anything.
- It goes on the contract, so nothing appears later.
- You leave the car where agreed and hand over the keys.
Asking after the Baku contract is signed is the part that causes trouble.
What do we agree in advance?
- Deposit 200 to 300 USD, depending on the car. Cash or a card block.
- No mileage limit anywhere inside Azerbaijan.
- Minimum rental 2 days.
- Fuel comes back at the level you got it.
- ICBARI insurance is in the price. Full cover with a 300 to 500 EUR excess is optional.
- Delivery to your hotel for 10 USD, to the airport for 15 USD.
- A different drop point is quoted before you sign, not after.
