Short answer. Electric car rental in Baku is still thin, and we are honest about it. We do not rent a full electric car today. We rent hybrids and one plug-in hybrid from 27 USD (45.9 AZN) a day. Public charging is growing in Baku and is sparse on mountain routes.

Can you get electric car rental in Baku?

Some Baku companies rent electric cars, but we do not yet. Our fleet is hybrid instead.

Our fleet has hybrids and one plug-in hybrid, and no full electric car.

We would rather say that plainly than let you find out at the desk.

If that changes, this page changes with it.

What do we rent instead?

We rent hybrids instead, from 27 USD (45.9 AZN) a day for a Prius C.

Toyota Prius CHybrid27 USD (45.9 AZN)
BYD Seal 05 DM-iPlug-in hybrid40 USD (68 AZN)
Toyota Corolla Cross HybridHybrid54 USD (91.8 AZN)

A hybrid needs no charging. A hybrid fills at any Azerbaijani petrol station.

Our guide to automatic and hybrid cars compares them.

Where can you charge in Azerbaijan?

Most public charging points are in Baku itself.

Hotels, shopping centres and some offices have them.

Coverage on the main highways has improved over the last two years.

Mountain roads and small towns are still the weak spot.

Why does that matter for a tourist week?

Range matters for a tourist week because the good trips here are long. Sheki and back is 600 km.

TripOne wayReturn distance
Quba170 km340 km
Gabala220 km440 km
Sheki300 km600 km
Ganja350 km700 km

Sheki and back in one day needs a charge somewhere in the middle.

Our Sheki route guide shows where the stops are.

What does fuel cost by comparison?

AI-92 petrol costs 1.10 AZN a litre at every Azerbaijani station.

A hybrid near 5 litres per 100 km spends about 55 AZN over 1,000 km.

Fuel here is cheap enough that saving it is rarely the deciding factor.

Our fuel guide lists every grade and its price.

How does the plug-in hybrid work here?

The BYD Seal 05 runs on battery for short Baku trips.

The petrol engine takes over when the battery runs down.

You can drive it for a week without plugging it in once.

The plug-in hybrid is the closest thing we have to an electric car.

What should you check with any company?

Check the charging card, the real winter range and where you can drive.

  • Which charging card the car comes with, if any.
  • Real range in winter, which drops in the mountains.
  • Whether trips out of Baku are allowed on that car.
  • What happens if you arrive somewhere with an empty battery.

Our station guide explains how filling up works here.
