What changes when renting a car in Baku with children?

A child seat is the main change, at 3 to 5 USD a day. Less than you think otherwise.

ItemCost with us
Child seat or booster3 to 5 USD a day
Delivery to your hotel, seat fitted10 USD
Delivery to the airport15 USD
Second driver on the contractNo charge

Two parents on the contract is worth doing. Long days go easier.

Is a child seat required by law?

Yes, a child seat is required by law. Azerbaijan requires a proper restraint, not a seat belt on its own.

A small child in an adult belt is both illegal and unsafe.

Bring your own seat if you prefer. Airlines carry them free on most routes.

Otherwise tell us the age and weight and we prepare one.

Which car suits a family?

  • Two adults, one child: a saloon is fine.
  • Two adults, two children: a crossover, for the boot.
  • Six or more: a minivan, not two cars.

On a Baku family trip boot space runs out before seats do. Prams take more room than luggage.

Every car in our fleet is automatic, which helps in city traffic.

Is Baku easy to drive with children?

Baku is easy to drive with children. The city is compact and the roads are good.

Two things catch parents out.

Pedestrians use underpasses, so pavements end without warning.

Paid parking runs through an app, and it takes a minute to set up.

Our parking guide explains the app.

Where do families actually go?

TripDistanceTime in the car
Absheron loop, fire sites90 kmUnder 2 hours total
Northern beaches30 km35 minutes
Gobustan rock art65 km1 hour each way
Nabran beach resorts190 km2.5 hours each way

The first three work with young children. The fourth needs an overnight stay.

Our peninsula loop is the easiest first day.

What should you pack in the car?

Pack water, snacks, a rear sunshade, wipes and a bag for rubbish.

  • Water, more than you think, from June to September.
  • Snacks. Village shops close early and stock little.
  • A sunshade for the rear window. Summer sun here is strong.
  • Wipes and a bag for rubbish.

Azerbaijani petrol stations on the main roads have clean toilets and a shop.

Is summer too hot for this?

July and August reach 35 degrees in the city.

Plan driving for the morning and late afternoon.

Mountain trips are the answer at midday, because it is cooler up there.

Our Altiagac guide covers the nearest forest.

One practical note about the seat itself. We fit it before delivery, not at the kerb.

Check the belt path yourself when you take the car. The check takes thirty seconds.

Tell us if anything looks wrong and we change the seat the same day.

What do we prepare for a family?

For a family we prepare child seats from 3 USD a day, fitted before delivery.
